Getting your Malaysian driving licence follows a fixed JPJ (Jabatan Pengangkutan Jalan) process. Here is every step from zero to a full licence.

3
Pass the KPP01 theory testA computerised test at JPJ. You must score at least 56/70 to pass. See mock exam details →

Get your LDL (Learner’s Driving Licence)After passing the theory test you receive the LDL, valid for practising with an instructor. You must display the "L" plate.
5
Practical training + road test (JPJ Test)Learn vehicle handling, then take the JPJ practical test (pre-test + actual test).
6
Get your PDL (Probationary Driving Licence)Valid for 2 years. Display the "P" plate. Under the KEJARA system, 10 demerit points can revoke it.

Tip: The theory (KPP01) test is the very first hurdle. Practising with real-style questions beforehand is the easiest way to pass on your first try.
